Ingredients👇

For the Matar Paneer:

  • -- 200g paneer, cubed
  • -- 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • -- 2 medium-sized tomatoes, finely chopped
  • -- 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • -- 2-3 green chilies, slit lengthwise (adjust according to spice preference)
  • -- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated or minced
  • -- 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • -- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • -- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • -- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • -- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to spice preference)
  • -- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • -- Salt to taste
  • -- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • -- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions:👇

  1. 1- Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

  2. 2- Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

  3. 3- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies. Sauté for another minute until the . raw aroma disappears.

  4. 4- Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy, stirring . occasionally.

  5. 5- Once the tomatoes are cooked, add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes until the spices are aromatic.

  6. 6- Add green peas (matar) to the masala and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are partially cooked.

  7. 7- Now, add the cubed paneer to the pan and gently mix everything together, ensuring that the paneer and peas are well coated with the masala.

  8. 8- Pour water as needed to adjust the consistency of the gravy. Cover the pan with a lid and let the curry simmer for another 5-7 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  9. 9- Once the peas are tender, sprinkle garam masala over the curry and give it a final stir.

  10. 10- Garnish the Matar Paneer with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with steamed rice, naan, or roti.
